Turiya,
I enjoyed that. I like the twist you put on ‘giving by using the beggar’. This was good to hear and reminds be of the story Swami Kriyananda wrote about when the offering plate came around and described the difference between a dollar and a leaf – that it didn’t matter what you had to offer because “God is that dollar” -they were both the same – remember that…? Did you speak of this story or did I read it in The New Path? Not sure if I reiterated that correctly. You can point that out… Thanks again!
Hi Laura,
I don’t remember that exact story, so you didn’t get it from me.
Recently someone who didn’t have any money put a carrot in our offering basket after Sunday Service because they really wanted to give something. I thought that was kind of neat.
(9:26) Whenever anyone, with a pure intention, offers Me (even) a leaf, a flower, a (piece of) fruit, or water (whether poured out or held up in a vessel), I accept his offering (as symbolic of his love). Essence of the Bhagavad Gita Explained
Turiya:
This was such a beautiful explanation of the self-offering, the opening of our hearts to the divine, that is needed for deeper meditation. Thank you for making these insights available to so many. You have given those of us who teach meditation several new ways in which to discuss the importance of what is essential to bring to meditation: an attitude of gratitude, love, and giving without attachment. Thanks for being such a clear channel for these teachings!
