In these posts I share my attempt to Live in Joy all the time. I’ve learned that writing my personal process helps me get more out of it and I hope reading it also helps you.

I invite your comments on these posts! We can walk the path together. I look forward to hearing you and overcoming life’s obstacles together!

Baby Steps to Greater Peace
Nov 5, 2009– turiyamoore
Having inner-peace is necessary to live a truly successful life. After all, what good are favorable circumstances or things, if we can’t enjoy them? click here for more
Attitude is Everything in Meditation
Oct 14, 2009– turiyamoore
The attitude one brings to meditation is more important than any technique.
Sexuality & Self-Control
September 15, 2009– turiyamoore
Sex & sense enjoyment are not “bad” or “wrong,” yet we do pay a price for them. The choice is ours. This video offers a deep and generally unknown teaching about the nature of human life-force and why one might choose to conserve it. In yogic tradition it is well known that the power lost during sexual emission is the very life-force that sustains us physically, mentally, and spiritually. click here for more
Thinking May Not Help You
August 18, 2009 — turiyamoore | Edit
The drunkard can’t imagine life without alcohol. Those shrouded in delusion and who experience the emotional and spiritual suffering that goes with it are afraid of awakening from it. And those who seek safety in ”control” drive the “car of their lives” off a cliff every time they try to steer it where THEY want to go. click here for more
Intuition and its Development
June 3, 2009 — turiyamoore | Edit
Intuition is the knowing of what is right and true. It doesn’t come from outside of us, and it can’t be created. The knowledge we seek is always present. An intuitive person simply knows how to perceive what is already there. click here for more.
How to Measure Spiritual Growth
June 2, 2009 — turiyamoore | Edit
Speaking with a friend last night the subject of “change” came up and while this person had a very good attitude about the change they are going through, this reminded me of times when I have experienced much change. Sometimes it can feel as if we have lost our footing and we are not sure if we are actually making upward progress, or slipping into a deep crevasse. At these times it has been helpful for me to think of life as surfing a wave in the ocean. To succeed we must remain nearly as fluid as water while riding the changing wave to our goal. Spiritual growth is a flow, it’s not bashing through the waves with jet power. For me it’s all about working with life in harmony with eternal principals that are always present. In these principals I find the firm grounding I desire, even when my actual path has never been predictable. click here for more.
Why Worship Anything?
May 4, 2009 — turiyamoore | Edit
From “Rays of the Same Light,” by J. Donald Walters:
“One who accepts sincerely does so in order to become changed, to grow spiritually, and not to parade before the world his outward affiliation with this religion or with that.”
The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost (or Divine Mother), are all aspects of our same one being. But saying this, and realizing it are two different things.
I believe that by training our heart’s love, and our deepest thought to remain fixed on God through regular deep meditation, and by living as if we are only channels for the Divine will, we can overcome the limitations of our own false self image. As we loosen the hold of old thoughts and habits, which cause us to relate to life and people as anything but God, we experience greater freedom ourselves. click here for more.
“Religion” is Optional
April 27, 2009 — turiyamoore | Edit
Religion gets a bad wrap, plain and simple. It’s easy to see why. As institutions grow in size and power they loose touch with their own roots. A hierarchy is developed over time that actually excludes those souls with the highest levels of realization. Those who found God within the Catholic Church were also the most persecuted by it. click here for more.
Overcoming Fear Pt 1
April 21, 2009 — turiyamoore | Edit
Fear is natural and common for most people and has it’s right place in nature. But for the most part, I do not see fear as a healthy emotion when it has become a habit instead of a brief response to a dangerous situation. It seems to me that fear is appropriate for rodents running away from raptors, and children who need to stay out of harms way.
But fear based on economic stress, job security, possible changes in relationships or anything we are attached to, or desirous of, is not helping us achieve our goals. click here for more.
Spirituality & Relationships Pt 1
April 7, 2009 — turiyamoore | Edit
This is a big subject and it’s often “charged” for people. Only you can decide what is right for your situation. Honestly, this subject is intimidating for me to write about. Working directly with a couple or an individual is much different than writing for a group.
I’m going to start off by trying to answer some questions recently posted in comments that were in response to my post called “Stop Negative Thoughts.” Let’s see where that takes us.
How do you remain positive if your partner/spouse/significant other is not walking the same path? click here for more.
Stop Negative Thoughts
April 2, 2009 — turiyamoore | Edit
It’s natural to try to reason ones way out of harmful thinking, but in my experience, reason is not a reliable way for me to become positive. Underlying reason is a layer of feeling, attitude, and the force of habit that colors my thoughts.
I think of thoughts as plants in my “mental garden.” Sure there are some deep-rooted weeds, but they do not deserve all of my attention. If I only focused on the weeds my good plants would die, leaving me with an empty plot of dirt for a mind. Yuck!
I don’t want my life to be empty like a dirt lot. Some speak of “nothing-ness” or “emptiness” as a spiritual goal. Maybe it’s semantics, but I don’t think of fulfillment as empty. My experience of fulfillment is never empty. click here for more.
Non-Lying Pt. 1
February 6, 2009 — turiyamoore | Edit
My focus on non-lying (truthfulness) this week has helped me be more centered and aware. It’s become a real exploration into what works, and what doesn’t work for me.

Swami talks about happiness in the recognition of ones own unimportantness or something like that. My first thought was “What a relief! No, pressure, I don’t matter. I don’t have to act on my thoughts that I need to commit my life in a big way.” But then I have these questions. Is it God’s will that I do good in the world? Does that matter? Its so scary. I don’t know what I have to offer? I don’t feel like I could do enough to matter. How do I reconcile the inconsequence of me and the imortance of God’s will? when I think of me being part of God? I feel like a baby in my spirtual growth. Luckily I can laugh a little about it instead of cry. What are your thoughts?

Dear Debbie,
These are important questions. I’ll write an answer as soon as I can. It may become a new post. I’ll let you know.
But for now, remember that you are not and can not ever be separate from God. Our separateness is only in our minds. God makes the flowers and we know not how. But we see them everywhere. Trust that God also speaks to you in your heart, and will guide you if you listen. Then let Him act through you. Doubt and fear are the enemy. It’s a process that we have eternity to figure it out!
Sri Yukteswar said, “Everything in the future will improve if you are making a spiritual effort now.”
Just do your best and I believe that will make God smile for you.

Back in the middle 1970s, I met a guy in California named Turiya at the Ananda Meditation Retreat outside Nevada City, Ca. Would that be you?
October 28, 2009 at 5:39 pm
No that is not me. But I may know him. If it is who I’m thinking of he is still with Ananda but has a new spiritual name.
Is this him?
